Meet the Host – Michael Monahan

Behind every episode of Stagepass is a host with a passion for music that runs deep. I’m Michael Monahan, and I’ve spent over four decades immersed in the vibrant world of music, both as a performer and a key player in the music business.

A Life in Tune

My journey began on the stage, where I spent 40 years living out my dream as a professional musician. The experience of connecting with audiences through music has been the cornerstone of my career, shaping my perspective on the industry’s ever-evolving landscape.

A Diverse Career Path

In 1988, I stepped into the world of radio, joining WNOR-FM, famously known as FM-99, as the assistant program director. This role allowed me to blend my on-stage insights with the business side of music, contributing to one of the era’s most influential radio stations.

My adventure took an exciting turn in 1993 when I embraced the role of Southeast Regional Promotions Manager, first for IRS Records and then for Sire Records. Here, I had the unique opportunity to work closely with artists and help shape the music that reached listeners’ ears.

After a brief return to radio in 1999 as the program director for Rock 102.5, an alternative rock station in Edenton, North Carolina, the stage called me back. I returned to my first love, performing, bringing with me a wealth of experiences from different corners of the music industry.

Sharing the Passion

Now, as the host of Stagepass, I bring this rich tapestry of experiences to the show. My journey has been a testament to the power of music in connecting people, telling stories, and creating memories. It’s this passion and knowledge that I aim to share with you every Sunday night.

Join me on Stagepass, and let’s explore the fascinating world of local music together!
